    2017 Text Editor

Anyone else's text editor not work? Very frustrating.

When I edit any text (upgraded or new), I can't pick a spot and start editing. AND, my arrows are backwards. Left arrow moves the cursor right, right arrow moves it left. AND AND my delete backspaces, and my backspace deletes.

No matter where I get my cursor to land, it will only delete stuff from the beginning of the text string. So for me to change " Remove and additional 5' of fill under bridge area" to 4' of fill, I have to retype half of the note.

Either its totally FUBAR, or I'm an idiot. I don't know which one it is yet.

Never mind. It's miraculously working now. Gotta love Revit.

I have converted 1 project to review and I had a similar problem with text on only one sheet. The cursor and the actual text were mirroring each other so that you had to pick the right side to get the text to edit the left side. As you type the text moves left to right and the cursor moves right to left. I copied the text to another sheet and it was okay.

I have opened the project several times and it doesn't do it right now so not sure what is going on but I'd say there is an issue.

    Or Windows.

We had a similar thing happen to a couple of people in Bluebeam. Exact same symptoms. The cursor went backwards and typing came in right to left.
Never really found a solution, as we were in the middle of upgrading versions and it behaved after the re-install.

I've just had this exact problem. Restarted Revit and it worked fine. :/

I’m having issues with the text editor as well. My issue is when I put in special characters using the Alt Codes. So far this is happening with either an OOTB template or an upgraded office template. It also didn’t matter the view type.

This is what is happening: The first string of text the alt code will sometimes put in the special character most times not, but it will display the shortcut keys for the ribbons. The shortcut keys disappear after closing the text editor. Second string of text will allow the Alt code special characters. Close that text editor and then edit the previous text and now the Alt code will work but not all of the different Alt codes you might use. You might have to create another string to get a different special character and then go back to the previous text to put it in.

Can still copy/paste from the character map just fine, but that will be a pain down the road.

Another thing that was happening was if I selected an existing text to modify the type, the properties are non-editable, but if I canceled and selected it again the type properties are now editable.

I did close Revit and started it up again with the same problem.

First post? I could have swore you have posted before Megan...

So I tried an upgraded project again this morning with the hopes of creating a Screencast and I was able to edit the text with no issues.

The ALT symbols are still screwy though.

I've had this problem on all of my projects. Its been going on now since I upgraded a few weeks ago and nothing has miraculously changed. Is everyone running Windows 10?

I have had other graphic problems that went away over 2016 updates but are back now, but that had to do with dual monitors. Right now I'm just running one and while this other unrelated problem is fixed with a single monitor (now I have a weak hand tied behind my back). I have checked for updated video cards (NVidia Quadro K2100M and Intel HD Graphics 4600).

Same issue here with "Text Editor" don't know just yet what sets it off but must happen to me 10 times a day at least, shut down and restart Revit and all good.
So far a lot more time lost than gained with new text editor, it's broken as far as I am concerned.
It's not a windows 10 issue, I had various issues running Revit 2017 with Windows 10, enough to make me do a clean install of Windows 7 and Revit 2017 and still have text editor issue.
ADSK's reply to my graphics and dual monitor issues support cases was "Windows 10 was not is not a supported operating system, so not their problem", user beware !!!

    EDIT
Arrrrrggghhh !!!!! Make that about 20 times a freakin day, this is starting to wear a little thin with me, not happy one bit. Everyone wanted a "text editor" ,well we got it and it's broken !!!

    EDIT AGAIN!!!
This is beyond a joke, I have had enough !!! The piece of crap is broken !!!
2017 sux big time !!! Now I am stuffed, clean OS install only Revit 2017 on it, 10 projects started and I want to go back to 2016 and can't. ADSK who do I send the bill too, editing text is not rocket science, get it sorted...

OK, anybody else having this issue I think I might be onto something.
Seems to be happening after copying text from one view to another or just copying text.
Can't replicate it but have noticed it randomly happening straight after copying text.
    Anybody else got feedback ????
