    Stone Section Detail Component

Anyone have one they would care to share? I'm building some wall sections with stone veneer, and I'm not quite quick enough to just "knock out a quick component" in Revit. That, and I'm being super lazy today.

Can someone please help me out?

    Ummm.........

I don't know exactly what geometry you need, but couldn't you just model the stone in a sweep and do it "correctly" and not use Detail Components?

I don't quite follow you. The entire wall is quarry stone; instead of brick, for instance. I've always done a wall section, then detailed the brick with a repeating detail component going up the wall. That's what I was wanting to do, but with a stone section pattern.

    Am I missing something?

    Sorry--

I was imagining a water-table, sill or wainscoat that you could model as a sweep, not an entire wall showing coursing.

I wish there was a way to "nest" the detail components in the Wall Type and have it "turn on" when needed and off when not needed--sort of like Detail Levels of course, medium, fine--but more embedded in the wall so it would show up cut correctly--you could then click on the "hatching" and turn it "live" for editing, get it where you want it and turn editing off and there's your section. LOL You can "nest" detail components in sweeps, but I never have had very good experiences with them.

I don't have a quarry stone DC. Back to the old family editor, I suppose......................

*sigh* Yeah I suppose so. It would be nice if walls could have nested detail components like you said.

Well, there IS a way to nest detail components in walls... I´m not a big fan of this workaround, but yet it´s quite interesting.

Basically it´s all about nesting 2D Detail Components into Profile families, which are then used as sweeps and facias.

Our local resseller made the following two videos to demonstrate this:
