    Visible gridlines in assembly

    Hi,

Is it possible to add gridlines to an assembly (i believe not) or is there a way to make them visible in the assembly-views if there not part of the assembly?

    Thnx

From my experience (which granted is limited) with the assemblies is that assembly views only show what is in the assembly and nothing else. So if your grids are part of the assembly (which is not a good idea) they will show up...otherwise they will not.

Without any experience in Assemblies: that sucks... Especially in Assemblies you might want to know where they are located. The whole point is the possibility to take a part of the building and easily make separate (construction) drawings isn't it? But you can't show where it's taken? That kind of defeats the purpose doesn't it?

you can show where the assembly is by adding an assembly tag. you may also add a reference to the sheet with assemblies views. like a callout.

Ok, but in Holland we have the customary approach to annotate from the gridlines... that isn't going to be possible with an Assembly View?

You are not able to show grids that are not part of the assembly in and assembly view.

But as you stated earlier: incorporating them isn't a good idea... So too bad, not much use for it here.

Annotations cannot be part of the objects selected to create an assembly. This includes levels and grids. You can annotate an assembly after it's created, but then you cannot create grids in an assembly view.

Why not? Renders it useless for me... We measure distances from Grids if possible. Will this be included in next versions?

Not sure why it was done this way, and i don't want to speculate. Not sure what will be in 2013, and couldn't tell you here in a public forum if I knew :-)
