    Revit 2016 .ini file

    So I have installed Revit 2016 and I was looking at customizing the .ini file for consultants and have found Japanese and Chinese language in it. It seems default installation has directory locations for different languages, are others seeing the same thing.

    Brian, do you have a process that you go through to create your custom .ini file? I think my current office has just been upgrading their template, so it hasn't been done in a while, so I'd like to dig into it this year.

    This release provides all language support with one installation and switching language support without a separate language pack installation. It means that localized versions will be available when the English language version ships.

    Ryan, Yes I always customize the .ini file for my clients when I create deployments. Over the years I have been getting them from different user machines from different disciplines so I can see what can go into one, especially since the help file only covers the basics.

    Steve, Thanks I didn't know this was a feature of 2016, guess I can just remove that from my .ini file since I will only be using English.

    Here is mine, so far, for 2016. There are a few new options that showed up in 2015, R2, and 2016. Im liking a lot of the new user configurability. This means we can push more settings we like, on Rollout.

    when setting the 1 / 0 switches:
    1=enabled
    0=disabled
    correct?

    Wow Aaron I am surprised you have animated transitions. Custom colors show up when you are selecting colors for materials, line types, etc.. They are usually the white squares on the left.

    Yes 1=enable and 0=disable

    Here was mine for 2015, however I do much more for clients

    Custom colors also show up in the color picker, so you can seed those 16 squares with office vetted colors for lots of uses. I like providing 8 pastel/earthy colors and a matching 8 more vibrant variants, ready for use is all sorts of cases, especially custom room and area stuff. Users can quickly choose a color, and the color is part of a consistent graphic language.

    I think it helps the staff stay oriented, when they can see things moving. If it snaps and is suddenly *changed* it can be disorienting.

    It occurs to me that animated transitions might be the best GPU benchmark we have. If your computer can't handle animated transitions, it can't handle the work either.
