    So thanks to the folks in this thread that pointed out the revised spreadsheet, im actually redoing our INI file for 2016 now, as i didnt know you could alter some of these settings, and they are great finds! Ill post a revised one up above, shortly.

    EDIT: BTW, the new spreadsheet is AWESOME. But under Snapping, it lists ImperialSnapIncrements and MetricSnapIncrements as an on/off, but its a String separated with semi's...

    Any changes or things you find in the spreadsheet, let me know and I can update it and get a better one posted to the help topic.

    Jeff, any chance of getting a running Deprecated section, going back a few years at least? I would love to know for sure that I am not causing any problems deleting the whole Messages section, for example. It's one thing to do it myself. Rather another to suggest it to others.

    Thanks!
    Gordon

    This might have some of what you are looking for;

    Help

    It is not comprehensive back to the dawn of time, however previous years of help have similar sections. Of course we have only documented the INI like this for 3 releases or so, and these settings are very difficult to keep track of for whatever reason. Different teams are adding and taking away stuff and it is often an afterthought to tell us on the documentation team about them.

    Aaron agreed on the chain options I keep wondering what other there are. I am also not sure on what Creases are but it showed up in two different sample .ini files.

    Maybe it is because of me being a pirate but what "SaveAs" are you talking about, I don't see it in there?

    I was thinking this had something to do with the recent files and how it is displayed, by Type, File Size etc.. I have played with these settings and nothing changes. So maybe this may be an old one coming through. I also remember seeing at some point a FileOpenView=?. I have played

    It might have been something before the days of a starting view option?

    I think this post could be the making of a great blog post, honestly. I just went back and revised some settings again, after playing with it. Snap to Nearest, in AutoCAD, was a very polarized topic. I was in the camp of *if you use Snap to Nearest, you draw like crap.* So now that i saw the Snap settings available in the INI, i figured i would give customizing them a whirl. So naturally, i turned off Snap to Nearest. But CAD is a different animal than Revit yet again: Having snap to nearest OFF means every time your cursor gets near a wall, it flies over to the wall midpoint or endpoint. Yuck.

    But customizing the snap angles and snap increments, im definitely happy with. I actually modified the View Cube to not have the compass, and be opaque, as well. I like it better that way.

    Ditched the Analysis ribbon (no Engineers here, and we have a dedicated Energy Modeler), switched to the Darker theme (easier to read ribbon titles), turned up the ribbon refresh rate (thanks for the tip Gordon!), and a few other things.

    I think the CommonDialog stuff is deprecated. I thought it might apply to the recent documents list in the file dialog, rather than the recent files HTML stuff, but it seems not to impact anything as I am testing now.

    One trick I do like is with Dictionaries. Not only can you set ArchDict to a network shared dictionary and give everyone access to a proper shared resource that you can then add to over time, you can also play a little game with CustomDict. This claims to be a user's custom dictionary, but it lives in ProgramData by default and is shared by all users. And you can't move it to the user's Roaming AppData which is where a user customizable dictionary belongs. So, it is kind of a joke to start with functionally, and I am of the opinion that the software should only flag as correct those things that experienced people have vetted, so I like to point the custom dictionary to some file on the network, and make that file read only. Users can add misspellings and what not to their heart's content, but nothing sticks, and the spell check continues to only approve of those spellings that are actually vetted.

    DisableMPPAutoApply is also a great one, if you hate Revit taking input when you bump the mouse, or go to email to copy/paste the value, or whatever. It takes you back to the old click in the canvas to accept behavior, which I find preferable.

    As for chain options, ALL new to me, so woot to learning new things.
