View Reference tag that can display a view's name too not just sheet and number data?

View Reference tag that can display a view's name too not just sheet and number data?

Also tried adding a shared parameter to the View Reference Tag family but I can't.

    Any thoughts?

I could be wrong bc I'm not near Revit to check ATM, but I think it's a software limitation you could add a label to your view reference tag family and then manually input the view name...there are free addons that can update parameter to parameter for all instances but unfortunately that's still a manual process. Not sure if that would work in your case but search caseapps.

    Devil's advocate :
You figure/find out a way. How would you police/manage view name lengths so that they appear in callout heads nicely/uniformly?

    In other words:
Why would you want to link to a (ever variable, often repeatable) view name, and not "just" (read: purely) the sheet number w/ detail reference?

    Hi Snowyweston

My reason for wanting this is as follows: I have a project with a lot of elevations (200+) which are collected onto sheets, more than one per sheet, with an index page so one can find which elevation is on which sheet. It is therefore much more useful for someone following a reference to know what the elevation itself is called so it can be found specifically, rather than simply which sheet it is on.

Edit: So I want a View Reference Family which I can use to reference/link to the View Name of an Elevation View.

It might be a day or two before I can post an example but, if this is for elevations then yes, its doable. I have an elevation tag that does this very thing.

Not sure where the issue lies. Looks like it's a default parameter... or maybe it's been so long since I did this I forgot what I did!

The family and the screen grab you have posted is of an Elevation Pointer, which always had, and still has the View Name parameter. What the OP is asking about it a View Reference family. That still doesn't have the View Name parameter.
