    Revit LT 2014 UK Content

    Hi All,

I work in a structural engineering office and I've recently tried to use Revit LT 2014

When I've tried to place structural columns and beams into my project there does not seem to be any families for Universal Columns (UC), Universal Beams (UB) or Parallel flange channels (PFC) in either the structural columns or structural framing folders of the UK library. These are commonly used framing elements and I was surprised not to see them.

I tried reinstalling the content using add/remove programs and it made no difference, I also found a 2011 revit structure UC column family on SEEK but when I loaded it I saw no option of picking which size of UC to load.

I'm not an expert in Revit but I have used full Revit Structure at my previous company and the above mentioned families were all included, plus when they were loaded you had the list of which sizes to include.

I've attached a screeen snip of the installed families I have at my disposal

Is Revit LT fundamentally different in this respect or is my installation not complete? Or am I looking in completely the wrong place?

Any advice/help on this would be really appreciated.

    Thanks.
    Adam

Adam, I can't talk specifically to the LT version, but I understand there was an issue with UK content for structures (although I recall this being a few more years back than would have applied to 2014) - and that there is, available for download, the UK .rfa from Autodesk.

Not sure where on their site, but a quick google landed me HERE instead... which looks like it'd be better than the vanilla OOTB stuff you'd get from Autodesk.

I'm in the exact same position as the original poster. The office has recently got Revit LT 2015 and I get the same family options as above with unfortunately no families for UB's and UC's. As I haven't been using it that often and haven't had the time nor inclination to fully investigate it, I've been downloading a, for example, UKC column from Seek and then amending that member to get the size I want, but obviously it would be ideal if there was a proper family available which had all the sizes available.
I've had a look at the link above but it seems that the links there are now out of date. Interestingly, I have a full copy of Revit 2015 at home and all the UC and UB sizes were available first time with no problem. I'll be very interested to know if there is a solution to this.

Revit LT does not install much structural content. Revit LT was/is designed more for the Architectural sole practitioner and thus structural content was not included. It is often not needed and because of the way Revit handles structural members often it does not display the way an Architect might expect it to.

That being said a Revit family of any kind can be used in Revit LT so you can get the families from other sources, such as Seek, to use in your projects.

The US product library has all the main beams available as far as I can tell.

Could you possibly provide an example of an appropriate family I can use? EVERY family I try to bring into revit for this reason only allows me to select a just a single type of column/beam without all the sizes available.

Also, beams and columns are fairly standard components that should be automatically available in the LT version. Are you saying that UK UB's and UC's do not automatically come with the LT version? There was absolutely nothing saying that would be the case on the autodesk website.

    *Bump*

Stryder did you ever find a solution for this? We're gearing up to use revit in earnest soon and I still don't have all the content.
As you said, I would have thought UKC and UKB families should be out of the box content.
