So long as you print with Black Lines selected (Print>Setup>Colors), there shouldn't be any problems with leaving them color. Now, some firms may use Color or Grayscale to have specific lines print grayscale, in which case all lines would print grayscale.

One solution could be to have the view templates for printed views that use only black lines, and view templates for working views that use color.

That is what I would do. I use color filters / overrides all the time when I'm working to visually figure out what I'm dealing with but my VT for views that end up on sheets are all B/W

indeed, different view types, view templates and filters for WORKING views, COORDINATION views, MANAGEMENT views, etc. Lots of views is a good thing, when those views provide meaningful, useful information.

I think the point here is to get away from colors being representative of how stuff will plot on a non-color plotter. We are using colors to differentiate systems and plan on continuing with that practice. Although our annotative linestyles are presently colored, they will be changed to black/white before the content is put into our library.
