Ugrading from Revit Arch Suite to Bldg Design Suite?

I currently have Revit 2012 installed from Revit Architectural Suite. I've just received the Building Design Suite upgrade and am wondering if it is necessary to uninstall and reinstall Revit 2012 since the serial numbers are now different? I didn't see any Read me's during the start of installation (which I aborted). Direction??

    Yes,

If you have Revit Arch Suite installed they will only pull Arch Suite License and lower...so they will not pull any of your license of BDS. BDS will pull anything lower than it.

Hope that makes sense...if not I can clarify a little more.

I installed the 3 Revit versions from the Suite in a new computer. And I've had Revit Architecture in my old computer. I thought that I was not going to be able to activate Revit Architecture from the Suite, because I already had one license. That´s what I had understood from my reseller, but I was able to activate it and get a full license with no problem. So, do I have now 2 licenses of Revit Architecture? That is not clear to me.

I'm going to ask my reseller to run this down for me and will post back any responses I get

I'm told that Revit does not have to be reinstalled but if one wanted all programs to have the same serial number then Revit would have to be uninstalled and reinstalled.

Your old serial number will not pull from a BDS license.

A BDS will pull any license, Revit will pull only Revit, and Revit suite will pull Revit Suite and Revit.

So if you have 3 BDS, 3 Revit Suite, and 20 Revit. If you install BDS on all computers all 26 license will be able to be pulled. If you install 25 BDS and 1 Revit and the person with just Revit comes in after 25 license have been used they will not be able to pull a license because the only license left is a BDS license because of how the cascading works.

This is what I have been told but Autodesk...I have never tried to install just Revit to see if it will pull a suite license.
