I havent really played with macro's in Revit. Can you tell me some of the typical tasks you would be using macro's for? Very interested.

    Drew,
Its Autodesk's way of exposing the API natively inside of REVIT, I wrote an article sometime back and there's lots of good info shared on this very forum, typical tasks include most of the re items you can do inside of the environment itself.

Autodesk Wiki - Creating Macros with Revit VSTA

Here's a list of REVIT VSTA samples that come with the REVIT SDK, out of the box and a blurb also from the wiki:
First, let's answer the question: “What are macros, and why would you use them?” Macros are programs that are designed to help you save time, by automating repetitive tasks. Each macro performs a series of pre-defined steps to accomplish a particular task. The steps should be repeatable and the actions predictable.

For example, you might define a macro to add a grid to your project, to rotate a selected object, or to collect information about the square footage of all the rooms in your structure. Other general examples include:

Locating and extracting Revit content to external files
    Refining geometry or parameters
    Creating many types of elements
Importing and exporting external file formats
    C# Samples:

    Simple Samples
    • QuickPrint_FloorPlans
    • QuickPrint_Elevations
    • QuickPrint_Section
    • FindAndReplaceText
    • CapitalizeText
    • FindAndReplaceWinType
    • DeleteObject
    • ProjectInfo

    Common Samples
    • CreateBeamsColumnsBraces
    • GridCreation
    • InplaceFamilyAnalyticalModel3D (Revit Structure only)
    • Rooms (Revit Structure)
    • RotateFramingObjects
    • SlabProperties
    • StructuralLayerFunction
