    Millwork drawings using Create Assembly

Has anyone tried creating millwork drawings using the create assembly command in revit 2013? If you have, what problems have you come across (if any) Just wondering if we should change our millwork sheet creation methodology in our office.

Any insight or a conversation on this topic would be appreciated.

    Thanks in advance

I haven't made shop drawings but I did create a set of drawings (layout dims for the casework guy) for some custom casework using the assemblies. Overall I think it's a great function. In 2013 you can place assembly views on any sheet which is a big step from 2012.

edit: I would give a shot on a small job and see how it works for you.

    Chad,
Did you come across and problems/disadvantage using the assemblies?
I also noticed that you can create sheets inside the project browser assemblies folder (instead of the Sheets folders) any advantages/disadvantage to this when it comes to printing?

    Thanks for a quick reply!

For my purposes the create sheets wasn't great but I could see it being useful. I just created views and inserted as needed. It will create a ton of views - top, bottom, left, right, front back and about 15 sections. I only needed one or two of them and did it as much as an experiment as anything. I would do it again however.

There are some limitations to assemblies though.

I'm sure there are others but there is plenty of reading there
