Length parameters for nested annotation families

    Hi friends,

I am working on an electrical family rig and am running into a roadblock on my symbol controls that I hope you might provide some insight on.

I have nested a generic annotation family into my parent work-plane based electrical fixture family that serves as my electrical symbol. I would like to lock this nested family to a reference plane that can be offset off of the "host" reference line. This operation works inside the parent family but breaks inside the project environment. Note the outlet offset off the wall, but the outlet symbol remaining behind in the image below.

I have built in an offset control within the generic annotation family that lets me independently move the symbol at paper space scale, but I want the symbol to follow the main reference plane as its origin point. It seems that I can not replicate the trick of grouping the generic annotation and invisible lines, then locking to a reference plane as discussed here.

I have attached the family for reference if anybody wants to take a look. 2020, because the height off level tagging is awesome.

With further testing I have realized this is an issue with the orientation of my electrical family with respect to elevation vs plan views. The offset works when I have the family positioned parallel with plan views and ceases working when perpendicular.

Here's a question for the forum, are you building your outlet and switch families oriented to elevation or plan views inside the family editor?
