Nested family doesn't show types in host family

    Hi all,

I created a detail item family for wood siding with three three different types. Once I load the family into the host family and try to change the type of the nested family it keep showing the same type, even though the properties palette shows the three types are loaded in the host family. The host family is a line-based family. Not sure if this has anything to do with the issue.

    I attached the file.

    Thanks a lot

The Width parameter in the nested family should be type, not instance.

Alf is correct, needs to be type parameter.
It's kind of counter-intuitive at first as the length parameter in the line based family is instance. Profile families work the same way. Type not instance parameters if you want access to them through the host family.
I've also recently learnt that you can't host a shared detail component in a 3D family.

Instead of nesting the detail item family into a line-based family to make an array, you could load the detail item family into a project directly. Then, use the Repeated Detail Component tool, and create different types, one for each of the types.
