    Detail item nested family

    Hi all,

I'd like to create a detail component with nested families and be able to tag these families from the host family. To do so, I understand that the nested family should have checked the parameter "shared". The problem comes when trying to map the nested family's dimensions to the host family's dimension. I get a warning message stating that" shared family types cannot have properties driven by parameters of the host family." I know that this was possible in earlier versions of Revit.
Does anyone know a way to go around this?

    Thanks.

It was not possible in earlier versions of Revit, you are mistaken.

Either the family wasnt Shared (which lets you do it), or you were mapping instance parameters (which lets you even if they are shared).

So, make the parameters instance, and you can map them.

I was literally reminded of this yesterday when replacing some older unshared door panels with new and improved shared panels. Lol.
It was a material parameter throwing that warning that needed to be changed to instance.
