Question Weird behavior with Instance based Generic Model families?

Here is a link to a screen capture video of my issue:
    https://www.screencast.com/t/sulv7QBy

I have a very simple Generic Model family. Length is Instance Based. I cannot type in the Value in properties - it doesn't hold the value and the Apply button stays grayed out. It seems I could recreate it sometimes but mostly not. I couldn't get it to "somehow work" for the little screen capture I did. What gives? Any help would be appreciated. Family is attached.

Ive had a quick look in my project envirnoment and its working as expected.
Have you tried just push-pulling instead of entering the values? Is it just this instance of the family? Can you replicate if you create a similar one? (If so - use that one and move on!)

If by "push-pulling" you mean simply using the grips, well yes I can do that as the video shows. But that doesn't allow me to select an exact value.

This is actually an issue with all instance based Families. If you say it's working for you then sounds like I have an internal issue. This really bites... I hate dwindling down uncommon issues. I guess I will keep monkeying with it until I figure something out.

The only time I've seen that happen is with one of our Addins: "Elevation Reporter" that keeps a parameter locked to the "Elevation" parameter (for tagging and scheduling purposes).
Any chance you have something sneaky running in the background?
I notice that "Length" is a shared parameter - have you tried changing it to another name to see if something is manipulating it?

I've seen this lately on a few projects using 2018. I find that if I enter the value but don't tab out of it the Apply button stays active and I can click Apply and the value sticks. If I move the cursor out of the properties palette the value reverts back to what it was. Weird and it happens to various families, nothing consistent yet.

By any chance does the project this happens on also not close without a prompt to Sync even though you already did?

It is related to an addin you have running. Can't say which one offhand, but like Alex the only time I've seen that is when there is an addin. In my case it was the Structural Precast thing that Autodesk offered. https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/revit...7595689#M23095

I usually turn that off first thing but I do forget occasionally, that's the ticket!

I think you should drag Aaron & Dan and come north; +/- 850 miles divided by 3 people is easy! And bring some brisket. BBQ around here can't cook brisket for crap. The pig & mutton is great, but the brisket is just not even on the same playing field.

I actually might end up that way in the spring for a day or two - I'll let you know.
