Nested 2D Mask in 3D Family

    Hi All,

I've read up on this method, but can't seem to get it to work.

I've got a 3D "Plumbing Fixture" family with nested 2D "Detail Component" families inside - showing bathroom type arrangements of furniture.

This works perfectly apart from the mask regions from the 2D family.

The towel rail is over the end of the bath here, but the lines from the bath are going through the towel rail.

This looks fine in both the 2D and 3D family until I load it into the project, at which point it does as shown.

I've put an invisible line in an elevation view going from ref level up 2m, which I thought was meant to make this work - but hasn't.

What can I do to get these masks to work correctly in the project?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Remove all 2d components from both towel rail and bathtub family. Show all geometry in plan. Then you'll see the rail placed over the bath.

There is no geometry as such...

This is a 3D family with nested 2D detail components.

Remove all 2d components from both towel rail and bathtub family. Build in the 3D geometry. Then you'll see the rail placed over the bath.

Still looks to me like the masking region in the towel rail isn't visible. other than that it's the display order you're fighting with. Maybe the placement order will change which one shows on top? I can tell you that a 2d family will respect the front/back function but not sure how that works with what I call a 2.5D family (2d in a 3D family) as I don't use them.
