Naming conventions for shared & families?

    Hi,

I'm wondering if anyone has some best practice tips for naming nested & shared families to keep the Project Browser organized and avoid confusion when inserting families.

you can see that in our case, we nest Door Panels(08b) into our Door Families (08),to swap out different styles.

We'd like to keep the parameters shared in these nested families, but what I've noticed is that people are mistaking the panels for the doors themselves. Does anyone else face this problem in their office? I think I simple naming change could help so wondering how other people do it

    thanks!

I name mine how I want them to show up in the schedule column. Now you can specify a Family Parameter instead of the loaded nested family, but that's prone more to "human error".
I use a Parameter to "Filter" them from the schedules, but the way they are named apart from the "Standard Family Naming" is a dead giveaway in my case. These are the "Exceptions to the Rule". That & how I "name" Profiles & Detail Items are mine.
