Exclamation How to Cut the family in nested family

Why I can't cut a generic model family when it's loaded into the other generic model family. I have checked the "cut with void when loaded" box.

Cuts with void when loaded is an ambiguous parameter name. It means a 'void' in the family will 'cut' when it is 'loaded' into a project.

As for your nested gm not cutting you might need to check its geometry visibilty settings and see if 'when cut in plan' is checked and maybe make it shared as well (not near revit atm).

Thank you Elton, I'm just not clear how can I cut a generic family in family not in project.

In fact, I have loaded many extrusion families into a new generic family. then I want to cut or punch them in this new family. Is it possible or not??

You can adjust the cut plane in plan views in familes. Hit the drop down menu just below the type selector and switch to your reference view. Your properties will then be populated with the view parameters, including view range. Note this has no effect on view ranges in a project.

Sorry, maybe you didn't get my point. In short, I need to cut family with void forms in 3D view.

Use a face-based template or build the voids into the family you are making. Can't suggest with since not sure what you're trying to accomplish.

Ok, I will explain step by step.

    1) create two generic model families, one is named "Family1", the other is named "Family2".
    2) create any solid form in "Family1", then Load "Family1" into "Family2" and place it.
    3) create any void form in "Family2" .
    4) use the void form to cut "family1". (This's what I need.)

"Cut with Voids When Loaded" only works when the family is Loaded into a PROJECT, not when Loaded/Nested into another FAMILY. So sorry, that´s not gonna work.

It's really disappointing. Right now, I am cutting the nested family in project with void form one by one.

So build the void in the family ie. not nested.
