    window inset parameter for the Revit 2017 OOTB windows

    i have noticed that the OOTB windows have a parameter that lets you position the window within the wall. i have been trying to replicate this parameter but having some difficulty. the OOTB window parameter moves the glass extrusion & mullions along with the window frame when you change the parameter. when i try this on my own window family i cannot get the glass extrusion & mullions to move with the frame. wondering how revit built this parameter?

    There's nothing special that they did. I recommend using a constraint that moves your entire series of reference planes... For the glass, the frame, all of it. Then lock the geometry to those reference planes.

    ...to add my tuppence;

    Now's a good time to also consider if, and how, you want this to happen at a type and/or instance level.

    I would, too. Our parameters that control inset in to the wall (in the windows and doors) are instance, also.
