    Demoing a colum capital

I think I know the answer, but just seeing if there is a better way.
We need to show the existing capital, then show portions of the capital being demoed. Depending on location in the building, different parts and extents will be demoed.
Right now, I built the capital as a nested family. Worked great for capturing the various existing conditions, but you can't demo just the nested family.
I think I have to switch the capital out so it's a separate family from the column and deal with the demo conditions that way. I'm dealing with maybe, half a dozen columns, so it's not a big deal.

Depending on if those nested families are hosted and/or workplane based, you could use Dynamo to get their elevations, place them as individual families, and delete the parent family... Assuming the shaft itself is also a nested family.

Sent from my Phablet. Please excuse typos... and bad ideas.

Column portion was just a structural column (not nested), then nested the capital in so I could swap out different configurations (field, perimeter, corner, atypical corner). I just did it by hand. I'll have to keep the dynamo idea in mind. Definitely would help with a tremendous amount of columns.
