How to control Yes/No with Void cut Solid ?

I created a Solid extrusion and a Void extrusion. I would like to turn on / turn off the Void by Yes/No parameter so that the Solid would appear in the attached image. Anyone could help me ? Thanks a lot.

You can't turn it off but you can push it outside of the solid so it no longer intersects with a length parameter.

The only way I know of to control that is with a separate set of dimensions to move the void out of the shape it is cutting. I've attached a ghetto fabulous example to demonstrate the general idea.

This gets really fun, when the VOIDS start to show up in the project environment, btw. Weve had it happen with several families in Parkland, where you see the solids and the outline of the orange voids, in all view. Its a graphical regeneration glitch, because renaming the FAMILY in the project browser fixes it in all views. So occasionally, we have to just rename some families, lol.

But these guys are correct that right now its the only way.

Thanks for reply. Unfortunately my Revit is version 2014 so cannot open your file .
But I found a solution : copying the Solid extrusion ( original Rectangular shape ) and Paste to the same place, then cut it by the void, add parameter " Void " to this Joined Solid... Well done.

uh, I can't believe that actually works. Obviously it does, but to me it seems counter-intuitive. I've always done it as others have described above, so angle and depth can be controlled with parameters rather than a dragging on shape handles.

Unfortunately I could not open the file of cellophane to see... But it seems that I've done as him ? I used angle and depth to control with parameters ( Angle, a b ) as my attached file.

My bad I'm still surprised the visibility parameter carries through, as the visibility property is non-existent for voids (or after swapping from solid). Subsequently the solid/void subcategory property for both disappear when you join the geometry. Learn something new everyday I guess

Would you post your family *(on here)?

Sounds to me like you're either :
doubling the extrusions up, (one for cut, one for non-cut)
    or
    cutting solids with solids

...both are as good a solution as any (as Aaron noted, the moving-void method has it's view regens issues, not to mention the implied exaggeration of the "overall geometric extent" of an element) - but something you'll want to be mindful of (as a workflow choice) with more complex forms/families.

*EDIT : Original mediafire link noted, ignored & request (to post to forum) edited.
