    Simple drain pan family

Okay so I am trying to make a family for a drain pan. What I did was make an extrusion and put parameters on it for width and length. Then make a void extrusion on top, about 1/2" shorter on each side. I controlled the width and length of the void extrusion with a formula, essentially saying Inner length= length-1"

When I load the family in the width side of the family works fine. If I increase the width the void width acts accordingly. However, when I increase the length part of the family, the length of the extrusion extends on one side and the length of the void extrusion on the other side. I tried to constrain them to the center reference place by using EQ but then it says that the family is over-constrained. Can you please advise on how to solve this?

    I have attached the family.

You'll always better off creating bones (reference planes/lines) before skin (geometry).

    Revised family should work...

The revised family works flawlessly. Thanks a lot.

I will keep the reference planes in mind next time I am creating a family
