Exclamation Can't apply curtain panels to massing surface

    Hi everyone,

I am a beginner to Revit massing function and am wondering if there is any solution about my following question.

I try to model some non-rectangular curtain panels and what I plan to do is modelling a rectangular curtain panel and apply it to non-rectangular massing surface. But system warns me that I cannot finish that operation.

Attached is my screenshot for my working progress and curtain panel type.

    Thanks.

Curtain panels made from the rectangular curtain panel template won't skew or bend to fit non-planar or non-recrangular spaces. This is why you are getting the "cant make type" warning.
You will need to make use of divide surfaces and adaptive curtain panels.

    Hi Elton,

Thanks for your quick reply. I got totally stuck in this problem. Do you have some detailed steps about how to make my model? Thank you so much!

    Hi MP,

Thank you so much for your reply and this wonderful tutorial. Now I solved part of my issue but there still remain some part I don't know how to fix. For some special unit, I need to trim part of it instead of scaling. So do you have any ideas on how to trim it?

Attached diagram shows that white part need to be remained and red part ought to be deleted.

    Thanks!

You could build the family to have a length parameter (0 > 1 in an adaptive panel) constraining the geometry along your vertical axis. Or in any direction really. Then you could set it to full length, half, or whatever.

    Thanks Elton,

Sounds like a great idea and I will try that. BTW, if I want to have some irregular cut in my unit(attached diagram), do you have some good ideas? Look forward to your reply!

Very possible, just need to build your family the right way.
