    Mep reflected ceiling plan?

Okay so heres a little brain twister I came into today. I am electrical when I went into my MEP reflected ceiling plan to try and place a lighting fixture on face it wont let me, me and our BIM Guru search through looking for ceilings and everything the ceilings are there to host but it will not let you. We found out that if you turn off the lighting fixtures in revit links from the architectural model, surprise surprise it allows you to host stuff to the face. I have never seen this before, has anyone else had this trouble before or know what the reason for it is????? your help would be greatly appreciated!

Sometimes the Architects revit model lights are ceiling hosted, which kind of means they will "cut" a hole in the ceiling. It could be that?

I can't remember how to stop that from happening though. I normally ask the architects not to model lights or just link in ours

Thank you for that I have seen that before but unfortunately it is not that if the lights were "cutting" the ceiling it wouldn't let you put a luminaire just where the light fixture is but this is we cant place anywhere on the grid unless the lights are turned off. mechanicals and technologies models are doing the same thing nothing can be hosted.

I can not. Don't want to get into trouble with the company

Are you trying to use the copy monitor option to creates your own levels based on the levels of your architectural model?, this way you can create you own work planes, so, in your own levels and work planes you can put those objects you need.

So we got it figured out looks like the firm started doing renderings for their model and their light sources when turned on are huge! you can place something anywhere that the light sources are not.

Ah I wonder if this is related to a problem I found recently. Apparently if the light source is set to something other than a photometric web, it will count as a clash as well. Maybe it's seeing the light source as an actual object.
