    top rail profile

I'm trying to create a custom top rail profile (rectangular), for a balcony railing.
I've gone in the project browser, under 'families', then 'profiles' then 'rectangular handrail'.
I created a new type at the size i need.
However, when i try to switch the top rail shape, the new type does appear in the drop down menu. In fact, I am only given 4 options. (see attached)
My question is, how do I add in profiles, so they will be recognized in the drop down menu?top rail profile-top-rail.jpg

This may be insulting, but did you load the profile into your project?

You have to select the rail top, select edit, load rail profile, then choose rail profile.

I withdraw my Procedure. The correct way is to select the top rail, go to edit family and duplicate type, rename with your own type, then change the profile of the rail in the type editor. This way you do not change the profile in the circular rail family, instead you crate your own family type.

Thanks. just found out, railings have their own category in the project browser (outside of the 'profiles' category). There is a separate category called "top rail types", where new types can be created.
    peace out!

Don't know if anyone else has noticed, but Top Rails to NOT flip with the rest of the rail.
